Albizia is a genus with up to 150 tropical deciduous species. It belongs to the Mimosa subfamily (Mimosoideae) within the legume family (Fabaceae). Silk trees are fast growing trees or shrubs with thorny twigs and double pinnate leaves which fold up over night.
